TRIAXYS with Currents Buoy now available with Teledyne RDI ADCP
Published 26.08.2010

AXYS Technologies, Inc. (AXYS) are pleased to announce that the TRIAXYS™ Directional Wave Buoy can now be ordered with a Monitor 600 KHz Teledyne RD Instruments Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler (ADCP). Teledyne RDI engineers are currently finalizing the unique ADCP design and expect to ship the first unit to AXYS in mid-September 2010. AXYS engineers will then perform integration and test activities to ensure compliance with all quality assurance requirements. This first integrated buoy will be delivered to EIVA in Denmark for use in the company's offshore and marine survey projects.

The advantage of using the TRIAXYS with Currents product is the systems' ability to provide extremely accurate, real-time waves and currents data in virtually any water depth, without the need for divers or cables. It can also be easily mobilized for utilization at a variety of deployment sites. Teledyne RDI's engineers have modified their proven off-the-shelf ADCP product by re-orienting their electronics package, allowing the ADCP to fit and operate within the TRIAXYS buoy hull. This joint product integration fills a niche that the two companies have recognized as a market need for some time, and are optimistic about the product's acceptance in the marine measurement marketplace.

Teledyne RDI, located in San Diego, CA, specializes in the design and manufacture of underwater acoustic Doppler and CTD products for a wide array of current profiling, precision navigation, and chemical measurement applications. ScanFish II Used by Oceanographer Bill Boicourt in Chesapeake Bay

Oceanographer Bill Boicourt uses the Scanfish II, an underwater flying wing, to document a new discovery in Chesapeake Bay: a Hydraulic Control Zone just north of the Rappahannock Shoals. Like a valve on a water faucet, the Hydraulic Control can regulate the flow of salty ocean water into the northern Bay. As the Scanfish glides up and down through the Bay, it can take tens of thousands of readings per hour, measuring salinity, chlorophyll, dissolved oxygen and plankton.

Press Release - Succession Change in Eiva A/S
Published 02.06.2010

Following on from the sale of Eiva in April 2008 and my employment in February 2009 we are now finalizing the planned succession change  with Niels Joergen Vase retiring from the Company which he has successfully built into an international supplier of software for the underwater service industries.

Through his spirit of entrepreneurship and his visions regarding development of complex software solutions and most of all his ability to establish long lasting relationship with customers, principals and employees, he has built up a unique company which today is in the technology forefront and has a solid position world wide for marine survey solutions.

We at Eiva all know that we will have “big shoes to fill” following Niels Joergen’s retirement. The Eiva team will however, do our utmost to give our customers the same high level of service and careful attention as they have been used to over the years.

Palle Herskind will be in charge of sales as our Sales and Marketing Manager and I will be handling the business development side.

Frans Boch, Chairman of board in Eiva added: ”Niels Joergen has done a tremendous job over the last 30 years in building up Eiva to a successful company and been a strong support in the transition phase from the time of the sale to the  completion of the succession change, we all thank Niels Joergen and wish him all the best for the future”.

Niels Joergen will maintain his 25% ownership of Eiva A/S as well as having a seat at the board of Eiva.

EIVA Releases NaviCat Software for Catenary Simulation
Published 07.05.2010

EIVA is pleased to announce the release of NaviCat software featuring catenary simulations related to anchor handling tug operations through integration with EIVA NaviPac including 3D visualization option.

By utilizing predefined cable, MLB and anchor libraries NaviCat makes creation, modification and display of catenaries extremely easy and intuitive. Each library allows for maintenance and extension by the user. During catenary simulation cable types, MLB’s and anchors can be replaced / exchanged dynamically and the effect is displayed instantly to the user. Defined project files can be stored by the user for later re-use of specific set-ups.

Display of catenaries is supported by tools including a/o zooming, measurement, automatic arranging of catenary profiles, drag-and-drop and dock able windows. In NaviCat each catenary is illustrated as a profile along the catenary in a customizable 2D profile display. Visualization of catenaries in 3D is handled through integration of NaviPac 3D visualization module.

During catenary simulations a large number of parameters for the catenary can be displayed, such as TDP, tension and angle at fairlead, tension along catenary, total length, position of anchor and MLB’s, estimated anchor position, display tension alarms along the catenary and much more.

NaviCat can operate in three modes, Manual, Calculation and Online mode. In Manual mode NaviCat is used as a planning tool where the impact of different set-ups is easily monitored and visualized. Calculation mode is used for estimation of anchor or TUG positions based on a specified tension or angle at the fairlead. In Online mode NaviCat integrates with NaviPac which provides positions and status information about the catenaries including 3D views.

New NaviModel DTM software from EIVA
Published 23.02.2010

EIVA is proud to announce the release of the new NaviModel software for ocean mapping, data analysis and interpretation. The software provides intuitive 3D visualization of infinite survey data sets by integration of multiple data formats and sources using user defined templates.

NaviModel includes features for data cleaning either manually or through use of advanced semi or fully automated tools as well as creation of own filters by use of plug-in function. Digital terrain models (DTM) are displayed in real-time fly-through fashion featuring different color modes and palettes in addition to adjustment of light source. Difference models and volume calculations are visualized by coloring the resulting DTM in difference modes.

Terrain manipulation is performed by leveling out depth differences between lines by skewing lines toward an average surface representation. Special pipe line modeling capabilities comprise pipe and flag editing in real-time 3D environment and support of export formats including SITRAS through user defined templates.

NaviModel further provides special facilities by which it is possible to match DTM, video and events and thus visualize run-line, ROV track, pipeline, flags, events and DTM all in the same 3D environment. Moreover NaviModel provides tools for automatic export of data in terms of shaded reliefs, soundings, contours, bathymetry, longitudinal and cross profiles, etc. as well as export directly to AutoCad supporting content in relevant layers.

R2Sonic - Sonic 2024 Broadband Multi Beam Echo Sounder System - Addition to EIVA Rental Pool
Published 09.06.2009

The R2Sonic Sonic 2024 Multibeam Echosounder (MBES) is based on fifth generation Sonar Architecture that networks all of the modules and embeds the processor and controller in the sonar head's Receive Module to make for a very simple installation. The Sonic Control 2000 Graphical User Interface (GUI) is a simple program that can be installed on any computer and allows the surveyor to control the operating parameters of the Sonic 2024. Sonic Control 2000 communicates with the Sonar Interface Module (SIM) via Ethernet. The SIM supplies power to the sonar head, synchronizes multiple heads, time tags sensor data, relays commands to the sonar head, and routes the raw multibeam data to the customer's Data Collection Computer (DCC).

The Sonic 2024 is supplied with a Valeport Mini SVS for sound velocity measurements.

The Sonic 2024 works with the EIVA NaviScan Multibeam software.
