The SVEP is a microprocessor controlled free falling sound velocity profiler. The rugged system is designed to work in both the ocean and freshwater environment and uses high resolution, high speed signal conditioning circuits combined to produce a no compromise marine measurement package.
The SVEP sound velocity profiler is well suited for applications like: - Calibration of multibeam systems and sonars
- Location of bathy-thermal and spring layers
- Anti submarine warfare
The system can takes up to 4 profiles in programmable steps from 0.5 to 10 m without data uploading. It is constructed with parachute and chock absorber. The system is battery powered and shuts automatically down after 3 min. not in use. A magnetic switch starts it and function is controlled with a LED signal from the probe. The system is operated from the surface by powerful PC based Windows software.
