TSS Orion INS - Addition to EIVA Rental Pool INERTIAL NAVIGATION SYSTEM Published 11.09.2008
Orion INS has been specifically designed for the demanding hydrographic survey, offshore construction and ROV operations markets.
Orion incorporates three single axis ring laser elements and three highly accurate accelerometers. These specific components, widely used in many of the world’s commercial aircraft, were chosen for Orion because of availability, accuracy and their very high meantime between failures. These core elements enabled the TSS research and development team to design this high specification Inertial Navigation System which is configured and controlled by the latest easy-touse interface – OrionView. Orion utilises the latest version of the TSS inertial algorithm which has over 30 years of pedigree providing outstanding performance in all sea conditions. Orion is offered as an IP65-rated surface unit or 3000m-rated subsea unit (6000m optional). Click to view further. |

Timebox Published 17.07.2008
EIVA a/s has in cooperation with the Norwegian Time Group (Acergy, Deep Ocean, DOF Subsea, Scan Maritime and Statens Kartverk) founded by Norsk Hydro and Statoil, initiated a project on defining the ultimate time tagging solution to high level survey. The basic requirement is that the acquisition software must not add any errors to the final solution due to time tagging of sensor data.
Based on analyze performed in the time group it was determined that the timing accuracy must be better than ½ ms.
It is EIVA’s experience that this isn’t possible on the standard Windows PC platform that we are building all acquisition applications upon. We have therefore initiated and completed the development of a dedicated sensor time unit called TimeBox.
